Andrew "Drew" Glackin      Drewstock

In Memory of Andrew "Drew" Glackin

Andrew “Drew” Glackin died at age 44 from an advanced form of Graves’ Disease (hyperthyroidism) also known as a Thyroid Storm. Drew did not know how serious his condition was—he thought he was experiencing flu symptoms. The disease that took Drew’s life at such an early age may cause any of the following; rapid weight loss, sweating, feeling hot, rapid heartbeats, heart failure, high fever (105°-106°), and more.

People experiencing thyroid storm cannot function normally. This is a life-threatening emergency and if you are or know someone experiencing symptoms of thyroid storm get to the emergency room immediately.

more about Thyroid Storm

According to statistics by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and other medical organizations, approximately twenty-seven million Americans are experiencing a thyroid disorder. This includes the estimate that about half of these cases remain undiagnosed. Drew's thyroid disorder was undiagnosed, and while un-medicated Drew's thyroid disease migrated into a Thyroid Storm. Thyroid Disorders outnumber Diabetes suffers by 40% in the US. A simple blood test could save your life.

Due to the power outage that ended Drewstock 2010 early, we are planning Drewstock 2010 Part II. Please return here for more information as it develops.
