Sean Kershaw and the New Jack RamblersLocation: Brooklyn NY Members:
Record Label: none Website: www.seankershaw.com MySpace Page: http://www.myspace.com/seankershawandramblers Bookings: in NY: sean@seankershaw.com Outside NY: Deb Noble thestingraye@att.net We play "Hi-Octane Honkytonk", a revved up mixture of old-school C&W, western swing and rockabilly, both originals and covers. Together since 2001, we had the pleasure of Drew's lap steel and Gretsch pickin' on a small southern tour and several gigs at Hank's Saloon in 2007, and Steve Antonakos was also in the Jack Grace Band with Drew off-and-on for years. In general, we are part of a larger musical community somehow connected to and/or by Drew who are all shocked and saddened by his sudden passing. It seems more people knew him and played music with him than anyone imagined, and we can only assume he's up there smiling and watching all the folks saying to each other "Wait a minute...he played on your album/show/tour too?!?" |
The
Silos
|
The SilosLocation: New York City Members:
Record Label: Bloodshot Records Website: www.thesilos.net MySpace Page: myspace.dom/thesilos Bookings: kris@lostbarrioartists.com The Silos create a sound that's hard to pin down. According to Buzz McClain in The Washington Post, the band creates "powerful earthy pop that sounds like the result of Nirvana riding on R.E.M.'s tour bus." "The band's austere style inflects the astringent twang of The Velvet Underground with the drone of R.E.M. and adds countryish echoes that recall Gram Parsons," offered Stephen Holden in The New York Times. "We get compared to everybody," says Salas-Humara. "To some people, we're a country band. To other people, we're a rock band. To other people, we're an acoustic band. Some people think we're rootsy, and others think we're arty." He pauses to take a breath and to chuckle at the breadth of it all. "We're all of those things." http://www.myspace.com/thesilos |

Faith
in Exile
|
Faith in ExileHailing from the heart of the coal region in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, Faith In Exile is a breath of fresh air into a music scene dominated by trends and fads. Originally formed in late 2005, they pay more attention to making their music memorable and meaningful than they do to having a fashionable image or a trendy sound. Influenced by the likes of Alice In Chains, Tool, and Nothingface, the end product is hard hitting and powerful songs that demands you take listen. Their songs are honest, at times brutally so. Each one is a carefully crafted piece of hook-laden hard rock with soaring choruses and shredding guitars http://www.myspace.com/faithinexile |
